Director of Recreation

Director of Recreation Job Description:

The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated full-time Director of Recreation that possesses strong leadership and supervisory skills. Candidate will be a team player that works collaboratively and always focuses on resident well-being. 

Director of Recreation Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

-Manage activities department staff, assign activities/tasks/deliveries/programs etc.

-Working with corporate guidelines to develop, plan, and implement monthly calendar of recreational programs and activities and plan special events based on the individual needs of residents

-Set up/break down and lead therapeutic activities to help residents with physical, mental, or psychosocial needs

-Document/track resident attendance during activities and resident council

-Review activity assessments for residents

-Organize & obtain department supplies

-Create department staff schedule and track & approve staff pto requests

-Assist in staff and resident birthday celebrations

Director of Recreation Qualifications:

-Must have LTC or skilled nursing facility experience (REQUIRED)

-Experience in care planning, MDS and overall program management (preferred)

-Possess excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

-Director of Recreation 2 years experience (preferred)

-Musical talent is a plus! 

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (hours can vary on event days)
