The Farmer's Dog is Hiring an IT Systems Administrator Near New York City, NY

Who We Are

The Farmer’s Dog is the fastest growing pet health service company in the US, and was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care – a fresh proposition in an industry riddled with manipulative and misleading marketing. We’re starting by radically improving the $100 billion pet food market, replacing bulk bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends healthy, freshly-made dog food, balanced by top veterinary nutritionists, directly to customers’ doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, honest, and delightful experiences across all aspects of pet care, and we believe our direct-to-consumer business model, holistic approach to growth, and dynamic and forward-thinking culture uniquely position us to shepherd this backwards industry into the future.

To date, The Farmer’s Dog has delivered hundreds of millions of meals nationwide and raised over $150M in funding to help us build a company as healthy as the dogs who are eating those meals. Join us as we continue to develop ways of bringing peace of mind to our customers, health to their companions, and much-needed change to the way people feed and care for their pets.

Where You'll Come In

The Farmer’s Dog (TFD) is looking for an IT Systems Administrator—reporting to the Manager of IT—to help grow our internal IT function and keep our technology running efficiently. Your job will be to assist the team with their IT needs, including actioning help desk tickets and collaborating on longer-term projects and initiatives.

In this role, you will work with employees across the organization to remediate technology problems that arise every day. You will also play a key role in helping TFD scale our technology as the organization grows.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • As the newest member of the IT function, you’ll help action tickets, as well as maintain, deploy, and secure TFD’s technology, allowing us to continue serving fresh meals to dogs all over the country.
  • Across the organization you’ll build and maintain close relationships with leaders and end-users to ensure all technology needs are being met. By understanding their current and future requirements, you’ll collaborate with the wider IT and Cybersecurity group to help drive change through planning and deploying complete hardware and software solutions.
  • You’ll partner with Talent Acquisition to support new-hire onboarding, including ensuring new hires have all the equipment and software access vital to start work on day one.
  • You’ll assess, plan for, and implement scheduled macOS and Windows patches and application updates across the organization’s infrastructure.
  • Using your strong written language skills, you’ll build technical documentation for IT procedures and configurations — for use by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • IT tasks can be unplanned and urgent — you’ll troubleshoot and set up various hardware, printer, application, and networking devices as needs arise.

We're Excited About You Because

  • You are self-driven, and exceptionally detail and process focused.
  • You’re able to lead your own projects and follow up without close supervision.
  • You maintain strong, professional written and verbal communication skills. You will be required to attend meetings with other highly-technical and general audiences and able to discuss plans, concepts, and strategy/approach in a clear and unambiguous manner.
  • You've managed and administered SaaS and cloud applications at a large scale, including Google Workspace and Identity solutions such as Okta.
  • You have Experience with Windows and macOS operating systems, virtual desktops, printers, and iOS devices.
  • You are experienced in using help desk ticketing systems (such as JIRA or Zendesk) to track and prioritize tickets.
  • You want to work with fellow dog-lovers who share a common curiosity about getting fresh food into dog bowls around the country!

Return-to-work guidelines

We support our team members with the flexibility to thrive, professionally and personally. All hybrid team members are asked to be in the office for 2 Gathering Days a week to continue to build a collaborative, lively, and invested environment - a unique in-person culture we are proud of. Gathering Days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, however the office will be open and available for all Monday through Friday.

Vaccination Policy

NYC and Florida: Employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 (in accordance with the CDC definition of vaccination) and provide proof thereof in order to work on-site at the New York City and/or Florida offices, unless the employee has an approved exemption (per state/local law) in place prior to the employee's start date.

Nashville: TFD requests that employees provide proof of vaccination on a voluntary basis prior to working on-site at the Nashville office, in line with local legislation.

The above RTO guidelines and vaccination policy is based on current local COVID-19 guidelines and is subject to change. We strongly encourage employees to take every necessary precaution to prioritize the safety of yourself and of those around you.
