The Role

Job Summary

Immediate opening for a Structural Engineer or Experienced Structural Engineer in Training with at least 3-5 years of experience. Candidate must possess knowledge or be familiar with the Florida Building Code, Design Standards, typical design software, and a fair degree of experience in design and structural plan nomenclature of construction systems in South Florida for reinforced concrete/masonry, structural steel, and lumber.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare design development/construction document plans
  • Coordinate project specifics with the Project Manager and clients
  • Prepare accurate drawings and specifications
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously within teams.
  • Experience with Autodesk software such as AutoCAD (Revit is a plus)
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Structural/Civil Engineering or Construction Management or relevant work experience. 

Work Experience

  • Three to Five years’ experience, and/ or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Florida or Engineering Intern (EI) Certification (or ability to obtain one within 6 months).
  • OSHA 10 hour certified preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an unrestricted valid Driver’s License.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to attend meetings and events, as needed.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred, or equivalent design software.
  • Ability to work individually or with team members, and work collaboratively with other disciplines.
  • Ability to work in the field and to travel outside local areas as workload and projects require.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of Florida Building Code, ACI, ASTM, etc., is a plus.
  • Ability to:
    • Lift/ Carry up to 40 lbs. (ladders, hammers, harness equipment, etc.).
    • Safely work at heights.
      • Work on suspended scaffolding on the exterior of the building high above ground (secured and protected)
    • Safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipment.
