What we are looking for

The Daily Beast is looking for a Senior Analyst to work as a part of the data team to manage regular reporting, perform ad hoc analyses, build dashboards, and work closely with the data engineering/data science team as necessary. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide data-driven feedback and actionable insights to our editorial teams regarding content/topic performance onsite off-platform (social media, video, etc.).
• Work closely with data engineering and data science to identify opportunities for datamart creation, outside data ingestion, automation, and model creation.
• Work closely with the product team to understand holistic implications (engagement and revenue) of product tests and launches.
• Manage ongoing audience traffic and KPI reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis, delivering insights and recommendations to both business and editorial departments.
• Help QA first and third party analytics/research vendors (e.g. Google Analytics, comScore, SimilarWeb, Parse.ly) in relation to tagging and implementation with product and technology teams.
• Help conceptualize, design, build, and automate reports/dashboards that provide insights into The Daily Beast’s audience (e.g. consumption, engagement, traffic).
• Respond to ad hoc analytics requests efficiently and clearly.

Desired Skills

• Significant experience working within SQL to maintain and analyze large datasets (i.e. using platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Athena, Redshift, etc…)
• Comfortable with analyzing data and building dashboards within BI tools such as Data Studio, Looker, and Tableau. 
• Hands-on experience with reporting and analysis using major web analytics tools such as Google/Adobe Analytics and Parse.ly.
• Some experience performing statistical analysis and/or modeling data in R/Python would be a plus as well. 

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in an analysis role, preferably with some experience working with advertising and subscription data.
• Bachelor's degree 
• A demonstrated ability to distill data into logical analysis, insights and recommendations in straightforward and simple language.
• Ability to clearly articulate and present findings and recommendations to executive, editorial and business/technical teams.
• Comfort in presenting with a wide variety of stakeholders, and managing requests from various teams.
• Experience with defining, implementing and analyzing A/B and multivariate experiments.
• Capability of working closely with data engineering and data science teams as appropriate to design, scope, and work through new projects. 

Why Work Here

The pay range for this position is: $85,000 to $95,000/year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, performance and other factors. The range listed is just one component of The Daily Beast’s total compensation package for employees.
