hear.say brewing theater is a craft microbrewery, improv performance theater, corporate training center, and event space with an on-site food truck. We have a 7 barrel brewing system and a wide variety of drinks with and without alcohol.

We aspire to build a vibrant community hub where joy and laughter are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to create a welcoming environment where guests can come together, connect, and leave with a smile on their faces.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at hear.say brewing theater. The Chef will be responsible for leading our culinary team in executing menu offerings that complement our craft beverages and enhance the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, culinary expertise, and a commitment to quality to our kitchen, helping us establish hear.say brewing theater as a well-regarded dining destination in Ann Arbor. The Chef will directly manage our Cooks and liaise with floor staff and management to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute our upscale carnival food menu and create rotating specials, sauces, and more.
  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring that dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.
  • Lead and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment and promoting professional growth and development.
  • Manage inventory levels, food costs, and kitchen operations to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with management to plan and execute special events, promotions, and culinary experiences. Partner on monthly beer pairing dinners and large events and enjoy a share of revenue.
  • Stay current with industry trends and culinary techniques, continually seeking opportunities to innovate and elevate our culinary offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a high-volume restaurant or culinary establishment, with a strong track record of culinary excellence and leadership.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Creative flair and a passion for exploring new flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
