The Coeur d'Alene Tribe is Hiring a Systems Administrator II (FT) Near Plummer, ID

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Systems Administrator II (Linux) is primarily responsible for the upkeep and overall operational status of critical Tribal network and communication systems. 
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization as it pertains to Linux/Open Source Environment.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure pertaining to the Windows environment.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
  • Provide technical administration and expertise in an environment consisting of mixed NOS’s (Windows and Linux), various servers, and roles: Linux, BSD, Ubuntu, Cent, VMWare, Free NAS, (postfix?), PostgreSQL, MySQL, documentation.
  • Open Source Email, Office equivalent.
  • Manage fault tolerance & Veem backup systems.
  • Plan & manage shared resources.
  • Maintain technical documentation of the tribal network configuration (ie: network diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.).
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all Tribal Facilities security and surveillance systems.
  • Maintain records and technical documentation for software equipment (including licensing).
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all Tribal Facilities security and surveillance systems.
  • Provide help desk/telephone support to end-users.
  • Provide technical assistance for hardware and software purchases.
  • Provide network and application training to end-users and trainees.
  • Assist the IT Director, Sr Network Admin, and Sys Admin (Windows) with telecommunications issues and reporting.
  • Assist the IT Director, Sr Network Admin, and Sys Admin (Windows) in developing short & long-range goals & objectives.
  • Maintain professional certifications as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  •  5 years of progressive experience.
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • A proven record of accomplishment of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Any OpenSource experience or certifications are a plus.
  • Cisco Certification(s).
  • Linux Certification(s).
  • Network Certification.
  • Security Certification.
  • A Certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4-year technical degree in networking / related field or equivalent.
  • 3 years managing an Open Source/Linux physical & virtual server environment with strong networking experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good reading, writing, oral communication, and clerical skills.
