The Chifley, Tapestry by Hilton is Hiring an Executive Chef Near Houston, TX

Opening in late 2022, we are on a mission to identify the ideal leader to galvanize a team of passionate foodies as you develop, innovate, focus, and thoughtfully design dining experiences that will be truly distinctive.

You will use your experience and knowledge of food industry trends, classics, and seasonal ingredients to create an exciting, innovative, and delicious seasonal and evergreen menus. Lead daily operations with efficiency, integrity, patience, awareness, and compassion. You will own team leadership, communication, training, development, and problem resolution all the while providing outstanding service to our guests along the way. You will act as an advocate for the restaurant, be a creator of ridiculously personal experiences, and develop relationships with guests that will compel them to return.

As Executive Chef, you will

  • Channel your culinary passion into all aspects of hotel food operations, including outlets and banquet facilities. You will focus on exceeding guest expectations while simultaneously driving revenue and maximizing profit.
  • Oversee kitchen financials. Partnering with Finance, recommend the budget and ensure food and labor costs fall within budget for optimized flow-through.
  • Lead an energized, inspired kitchen. Create an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and elicits constructive feedback. Lead a diverse team by modeling the way, by empowering, and coaching throughout the employment lifecycle. Oversee the safety of the environment and food for your staff and guests.
  • Create with a passion to delight. Demonstrate individuality in your menu conceptions and be willing to implement new cooking techniques. Take pride in your dishes and maintain consistency in taste and quality.
  • Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus
  • Staying current on developing trends in the restaurant industry
  • Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations
  • Expert knowledge of the restaurant or organization’s cuisine
  • Advanced culinary skills including food preparation, flavor pairings and other cooking best practices
  • Ability to develop unique recipes
  • Current knowledge of trends in the restaurant industry
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local food handling regulations
  • Comfortable training, directing and supervising kitchen staff
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including motivation and goal setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management and organization
  • Supervises food preparation staff: hiring, terminating, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, training, motivation, and development.
  • Schedules subordinates, maintaining adequate staffing levels while adhering to established labor standards.

Fundamentals

A minimum of two years of culinary school is preferred, but we are willing to consider any other combination of education and experience that produces the required knowledge and skill set. You must be prepared to obtain any additional licenses or certificates, such as the State Health certificate, to comply with state law.
