The Bowery Mission is Hiring a Logistics Associate Near New York, NY
Summary:
The Bowery Mission is a holistic, Christian faith-based organization dedicated to serving the homeless by providing compassionate care and life transformation services. The Logistics Associate is a key member of the Logistics team, which procures and maximizes donated resources to better serve hurting New Yorkers at The Bowery Mission.
The Logistics Associate works as part of our Logistics Team to operate as front of house representative for in-kind donation receiving, storage, and distribution. He/she is responsible for implementing systems and processes for tracking and reporting donations, as well as the physical organization of storage areas. It is essential that this Associate be able to create and maintain order in a rapidly changing environment.
Reports to: Logistics Supervisor
Hours: The Logistics Associate will work Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00am - 6:30pm.
Requirements:
- Embraces the organization’s Statement of Faith
- Inventory management experience
- Tech savvy. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; mobile technology (installing applications, using email on a smart phone, texting, etc.)
- Ability to interact with community, residents and donors with compassion and professionalism
- Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a team
- Able to safely bend, lift, and squat at least 50 lbs., and able to stand for long periods of time
- Valid driver’s license; experience driving a cargo van.
Preferred:
- Past experience working for or volunteering with a non-profit organization is a plus!
