The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (Associate, Experienced or Senior) to join the Quality Team located in Tukwila, WA
The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Supplier Quality organization is seeking a highly motivated candidate to be part of a new Supplier Quality Technical Readiness Team. The team is geographically dispersed in key locations within proximity to our suppliers across the United States and is chartered to deploy prevention based quality tools that promote the first time quality of Boeing defense and space products.
Applicants must reside and be able to efficiently commute to suppliers within approximately 50 miles from Tuwila, WA area.
The selected candidate will be required to travel to/from different suppliers and job sites as needed. Travel within the state of residence and adjacent states will be required on a frequent basis. The candidate will be requested by management to travel and stay overnight to support the business need (estimate of approximately 10 working days per month may require overnight stay).
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional Requirements Reviews and Capability Assessments at BDS suppliers
- Assist with the evaluate new technology and manufacturing process deployment readiness at suppliers. Perform special capability approvals to ensure technical readiness, capability and supplier process controls are established
- Apply advanced Supplier Quality prevention tools including: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Lean and Six Sigma
This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 1 years experience in the defense or aerospace industry
- Experience presenting technical briefings to various audiences
- 1 years experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 2 : 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 3 : 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4 : 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
- Familiarity with Defense & Space products in any of the following categories: Fighter Aircraft, Missiles & Weapons Systems, Mobility & Surveillance, Bombers, Space & Launch and Vertical Lift
- Knowledge and experience with Doing Business with Boeing Website including Quality Requirements and Terms & Conditions
- Knowledge and Practical experience with APQP, Capability Studies, Design for Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management, Supplier Quality Management System Approvals, Auditing, and/or Product Verification Experience (i.e. Inspection, Witnessing and/or Product Test)
- Experience with technical writing including Supplier Corrective and Preventative Actions (SCAPA) Records, Preventative Action Records (PARs), Supplier Preventative Action Records (SPARs), Corrective Action Records (CARs), Supplier Corrective Action Records (SCARs), nonconformance records, assessment reports, technical white papers and executive report-outs/briefings
- Any of the following certifications: American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (SSGB / SSBB), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license, and/or Project Management Professionals (PMP)
- Hands-on knowledge with any of the following commodity types/manufacturing processes: Structures, Precision Machining/Drilling, Major and minor sub-assembly installation, electrical, electronics, avionics, wire harness build-up, Electro-hydro-Mechanical, propulsion systems, special tooling, airborne software, ordinance, special processes (Composites, Chemical Processing, Heat Treat, Welding, and/or Non-Destructive Testing) and additive manufacturing including vat photopolymerization, material or binder jetting, powder bed fusion, material extrusion, direct energy deposition and/or sheet lamination
- Knowledge and practical use of any of the following software: NX, CATIA, Drawing Interchange Format (DXF), Gerber, IGES, LEV, PRO-E. ParaSolid, STEP, STEP 3D-PDF, STEP SUPPAR and/or Stereolithography
- Advanced Data Analytics including practical experience with Excel Power Query/Pivot, Tableau, Microsoft Access and/or VBA Programming
- Familiarity with the following specifications: AS9100, AS9145, AS9102, AS9146, AS9115, BAC5114, BSS7156, PS20722, Y14.5M, AS9138, Z1.4 & Z1.9 Sampling Standards
- Knowledge and practical application of Coordinate Measurement System (CMS) and plotter processes including but not limited to: Articulating Arm - Port Coord Measuring, Digital Theodolite, Fixed Coordinate Measurement Machine, Fixed Scanning Coordinate Measurement, Laser Projectors - Optical Layout Template, Laser Radar, Laser Scanner, Laser Tracker, Numerical Control Machine Inspection and Photo or Video-grammetry. Familiarity with CMM Software such as PC-DMIS, Verisurf, Calypso, Modus, Mcosmos, ARCO CAD, OGP Basic X, Micro Vu Inspec

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 3
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 4
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Travel:
This position may require up to 50% travel, including overnight travel.

Summary pay range for associate level: USD 78,200 - 105,800
Summary pay range for experienced level: USD 94,350 - 127,650
Summary pay range for senior level: USD 116,450 - 157-550
