Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking a Software Systems Engineer (Level 2, 3, or 4) in the Puget Sound area to support multiple space programs. The position provides an opportunity work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop unique systems to meet challenging requirements on dynamic development programs. This position is in support of space systems architecture, requirements development and management, use case development and verification strategies with a software implementation focus.

We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop system architecture in compliance with interface definitions and system/subsystem requirements
- Experience writing software system specifications, algorithm description documents, command/telemetry requirements, logical interface requirements and software requirements
- Support stakeholder needs through analysis, technical performance measures (TPM) definition, requirements analysis, and allocation & definition for subcontractors, utilizing Cameo, JIRA and Confluence
- Use case development
- Analyze, verify, and validate performance of hardware and software components in a space/ground system, including integration of hardware/software functionality
- Develop requirements verification plan, including coordination of required tests for space systems
- Develop and maintain requirements for innovative new projects
- Develop use cases and sequence diagrams
- Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for complex space and ground architectures
- Support software planning for and execution of subsystem and vehicle-level integration and test campaign
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical course of study
- Systems engineering on aerospace platforms or similar highly regulated products
- Software systems engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 3: 3 years of work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4 : 5 years of work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with requirements development, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and trade studies
- Experience with hardware / software integration
- Experience in development, build and test of spacecraft
- Experience utilizing Model Based Engineering (MBE or MBSE) tools
- Technical education or experience in space vehicle engineering disciplines
- Experience working across multiple disciplines in a rapid development environment
- Active Top Secret clearance and SSBI investigation highly desired (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Typical Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2)
Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience, Master's degree or PhD degree. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Experienced (Level 3)
Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 4)
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range (Associate, Level 2): $87,550 - $118,450
Summary Pay Range (Experienced, Level 3): $104,550 - $141,450
Summary Pay Range (Lead, Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
