The Bernard Group is looking for an experienced Senior Designer to join our team. You’ll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world class products to our customers. In this role, you will work with clients, sales team, design team, and prototyping to create concepts and innovative designs for both print and fixture requirements for our customers. You are responsible for incorporating all criteria supplied by the client, as well as offering out-of-the-box and innovative solutions resulting from his or her previous experience. This opportunity works closely with our vendor partners to understand the vendors’ fabrication techniques in different materials and substrates in order to create extraordinary, realistic, and workable concepts from both a physical and financial perspective. Typical fixtures projects will require designing in any combination of wood, metal, or plastic. 

Shift available: Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

A variety of these traits will help land you this job. If you have:

  • a Bachelor's degree with a major in Industrial Design, Exhibit Design, or Interior Design or an Associate Degree from a Technical school with 2 or more years of equivalent work experience
  • 5 or more years of design experience working in SolidWorks, Adobe Acrobat, FormZ, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).

On top of that you must:

  • pay close attention to details so you are able to complete projects accurately within deadlines, while meeting Company quality standards
  • be self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
  • have the ability to work independently, make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively
  • apply effective time management and self-management skills
  • understand and maintain the confidential nature of company, employee and customer information

In this position you'll:

  • collaborate with product development, prototyping, designers, engineering and sales team to design creative and compelling design solutions within project timelines.
  • partner with outside clients, vendors, Sales, other designers, and Project Managers to understand the overall project objectives.
  • mentor and support other designers (3D, dimensional, structure) in the creation of sketches and renderings as well as 3D models of various design concepts to meet the customers’ expectations leveraging Solid Works (SW) models, drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) required for prototyping, estimating, and production of parts.
  • mentor and advise other designers and prototyping on the specific materials and different substrates that can be used to create the visual concepts being requested by TBG’s customers.
  • engage in the overall communication efforts between various designers working on a customer project regarding status or any issues/concerns that have been raised to internal departmental team members and management.
  • integrate design concepts into company InDesign presentation document and present to clients as well as outside vendors with whom TBG will contract.
  • keep abreast of new software and modeling/rendering techniques.
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
