Description

SUMMARY: Process billing and payment on claims for clinic services in a timely and accurate manner; monitor and follow up as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols and third party requirements regarding coding and billing documentation

Responsible for researching unpaid claims to discern issues related to non-payment, (coverage limitations, billing, coding or demographic errors)

Contact insurance companies and third party payers and take appropriate corrective actions to secure payment on those claims

Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Medical billing/coding certificate and 1-2 years' experience healthcare billing or equivalent combination required. Associates degree and 3 years relevant experience preferred. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, various other federal and state payors/programs, and commercial insurance reimbursement procedures and knowledge of ICD9, CPT, HCPCS highly desirable.
