The American Board of Radiology (ABR) is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties. We were founded to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training, and professional requirements.

The ABR is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer to join its IT Department. The Systems Engineer will be joining a highly qualified team of professionals that work together to produce, service and support the technology and programming needs of the ABR using a container/cloud native software approach. The ideal candidate will have previous relevant experience, a desire to learn, and strong collaboration skills. This position is a Tucson based position and is primarily remote but will require office attendance occasionally for in-person meetings or to provide necessary support.

Requirements

• Database administration in a clustered environment
• Maintain a sizable internal LAN with requirement for routing and switching expertise, as well as basic traffic security and shaping able to maintain an edge firewall and make changes to rules as needed 
• Maintain external networking hardware, including interfacing with internet access vendors and their equipment
• Disaster recovery administration to include backups, incident response, building and maintaining offsite recover zones 
• Monitor Nagios/Zabbix, Uptime.com
• Use ticket system to update work progress and status
• Debug problems with applications using appropriate techniques and methods
• Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, or accessed
• Work with other developers, testers, and stakeholders to build and support business applications
• Work with database software to find ways to store, organize and manage data
• Manage database access
• Implement security measures
• Archive data
• Write disaster recovery plans
• Design maintenance procedures and put them into operation
• Manage database security/integrity and back up procedures
• Keep current with and up-to-date technical skills
• Lead project teams where appropriate
• Mentor team members, and act as technical resource for IT staff
• Document problems and resolutions for future reference
