Relies upon a thorough knowledge of Reimbursement procedures for private pay, private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare Parts A & B to manage all accounts receivable functions, including collections, denials, patient responsibility letters, Medicaid Approval letters and write offs
•
Develops and implements reimbursement and billing procedures to ensure both are in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as well as generally accepted accounting practices and maximization of accounts receivables effectiveness as measured by increased collections and decreased accounts receivable aging and bad debt write offs
•
Directly and through Billing Office staff maintains and updates all payer source rate changes and law changes
•
Enforce department policies and procedures

Maintains systems documentation procedures and policies for all payer source reimbursement and billing functions
•

Manages the performance of Billing Office reporting and recording systems
•
Participates in the evaluation and selection of software, develops reports, collaborates with other departments on the reporting and sharing of information through systems and trains Billing Office staff on the use of systems

Supervise the daily work of designated fiscal service department employees to ensure that billing is available and reported accurately and in a timely basis and that staff is trained to ensure continuity in all phases of the companies’ reimbursement and billing

Provide in-service departmental staff training on a regular basis

Hires staff, sets performance goals, reviews performance
•
Directly and through Billing Office staff, manages bad debt preparing collection letters and respond to court cases

Directly and through Billing Office staff, prepares daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and random financial postings, reconciliations, refunds, audits and reports

Complete the adjustment for Medicaid retroactive billing on a daily basis
•
Assists in the preparation of budgets as well as annual cost reporting and the annual external audit
•
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Billing Office
•
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
•
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
