We currently have an opening for a Software Manager in our Aurora, IL office. The successful candidate must have experience in leading software development teams, with a focus on embedded systems. As a functional manager you will be required to mentor software engineers, manage software development teams, and lead in a strong matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will set employee objectives that align with corporate strategy, monitor progress towards objectives and deliver feedback for a team of software engineers.
• Measure adherence to software process, maintain Agile Scrum, and ISO 9001 processes.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships across the matrix organization, project teams, support functions, marketing, etc.
• Provide technical and managerial leadership for an engineering department.
• Proactively interface with project leads and engineering management in resolving issues, coordinating resources, and managing activities.
• Work with department staff to develop and achieve strategic business plan objectives.
• Conduct hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary process, budgets, schedules, manpower planning, etc., for the department.
• Demonstrate support for company values and vision.
• Set and demonstrate through example the standards that embody the TDSI Core Value & Thales Leadership Model.
• Maintain high ethical standards, including compliance with all company procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's operating policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance appraisals, rewarding and providing for employee discipline when required; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Active mentoring and development of staff is a critical element of the supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• May be selected for work that requires ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance.
• Minimum BSEE or BSCS, MSEE or MSCS preferred, MBA a plus.
• Experience in managing a diverse team, including setting objectives and incentives, and providing coaching, training, and feedback.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work across organizations.
• Experience with wireless communication systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems for embedded applications.
• Experience with Object Oriented software development.
• Experience with C , C, Java, and scripting languages.
• Experience with Agile projects, Scrum or Kanban experience preferred.
• Experience with DO-178 / DAL certification preferred.
