As a member of the Cell Team, this engineer will develop and maintain advanced physics-based models of cell manufacturing equipment, and use the modeling results to optimize the equipment design, setup and control performance. The candidate will involve in model-based digital twin development for process health monitoring, fault detection and prognostics to improve the equipment throughput and yield. The candidate will also be expected to execute design of experiments to gather pertinent data to train, validate, and test the accuracy of the models.

• Advance the capabilities of Tesla's cell equipment models.
• Use CFD and FEA to simulate any analysis parameters with detail and interaction with other parts include hydraulic & pneumatic cylinder modeling and analysis, flow/fluid dynamics for flow distribution profile, mass delivery and heat transfer, machine noise/vibration/structure analysis etc
• Work closely with equipment, control and process team for next generation equipment design, performance optimization.
• Develop/deploy digital twin based model for process health check, anomaly detection and prognostics.
• Document and communicate model workflow, implementations, and results of simulation studies.
• Be a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell product applications.
• MS or Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Physics, Math or equivalent.
• Experience in solving numerical solutions of PDEs and ODEs.
• Experience in developing and solving finite element models (Ansys,COMSOL, Matlab, Simscale, Flow3D, PowerFlow)
• 3 years' experience in creating multi-physics models in the area of structural mechanics, thermal, and general transport- reaction processes.
• Parameter optimization techniques to identify optimal designs, and model regression to empirical data
• Good knowledge in system identification, feedback control system and machine learning algorithms
• Working experience in equipment health monitoring and fault detection in a plus.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis, DOE, data analysis software Excel, Python or Matlab
• Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills, willingness to gain and share new knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Positive attitude, eager to learn and ability to change direction quickly.
