Terranea Resort is Hiring a Human Resources Manager Near Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

Overview

The People Services (Human Resources) Manager at Terranea Resort is responsible for administering and managing the People Services operation, as well as meeting established financial expectations and quality standards. This includes keeper of the culture, associate relations, recruiting, training & development, and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all resort policies/procedures/standards
  • Resolve internal guests (associates) complaints, ensuring satisfaction
  • Ensure high standards of personal appearance and grooming of staff
  • Effective listening, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by associates
  • Provide guidance to managers in coaching, counseling and disciplinary actions
  • Expert knowledge of government regulations pertaining to HR – Wage & Hour, record keeping, etc.
  • Oversees annual compliance internal audits, associate engagement surveys and national certifications
  • Develop and maintain all communication to associates
  • Oversee and work with HR Coordinator in administration of Oracle data entry
  • Oversee Performance Management and ensure performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner for all associates
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding of new hires
  • Conduct and facilitate new hire employee orientation
  • Partners with Director of Culture and Engagement to coordinate associate engagement events

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by supervisor based on requirements/needs of the resort:
    • Participate in strategic planning including staffing, training and financial objectives
    • Attend appropriate meetings
    • Assist with recruitment and interviewing, if necessary. Utilize Kenexa.
    • Assist in all other HR generalist duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and with the ability to learn HRIS systems
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
  • Experience and/or knowledge of hotel business preferred but not required.
  • Ability to understand quality management practices and teaches to others.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.
  • Team Oriented
  • Work with little to no supervision
  • Strong decision making and good judgment skills
  • Proper telephone etiquette 
  • Union experience Strongly preferred
