In May 2019, TerraCycle launched its newest initiative, Loop, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging, washed by Loop and refilled by the brands. Loop has engaged many of the world's largest consumer product companies (including P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Mondelez) and many of the world’s largest retailers in this platform. Loop is currently available in the continuous U.S, and the greater Paris region in France, with plans to expand into several new markets including Canada, Japan, the UK and Australia by the end of 2021.
Job Overview
Working closely with the SVP of Corporate Communications, this candidate will develop, execute and manage the overall corporate public relations and communications strategies and initiatives to proactively steward and strengthen the TerraCycle brand.
Capitalizing on TerraCycle’s almost 20-year track record of building a positive, aspirational narrative, the candidate will lead communications on a broad range of issues, including global attention on waste and plastic reduction, new legislation and regulations, and take advantage of opportunities that arise from these and capitalize on them to maximize coverage. They will demonstrate the ability to dive deep into our segment markets to identify new and creative ways to reach influencing media and share the TerraCycle story. The candidate will need to handle crisis and other reactive PR situations, knowing when and how to respond to media inquiries and identifying and escalating potential public issues that may impact the company.
This job requires a mid-senior level communications practitioner with the ability to counsel senior executives on proactive initiatives, and also in critical moments. The ideal candidate is someone with corporate communications and issues management experience who has strong writing skills, pays meticulous attention to detail and has the ability to understand and distill complex subject matter quickly.
