Job Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic partner and financial advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and the senior management team to help shape the overall direction for the company including operating budgets, financial forecasts and management reports. (S)he works hand-on-hand with the CEO to drive key decisions on resource (re)allocation to make sure the Company delivers on its short- and long-term goals. The CFO works very closely with the CEO, CAO (Chief Administrative Officer) and senior team on growth planning, capital raising, and M&A. Functionally, (s)he manages and oversees all the financial activities of the corporation, coordinating with the Audit Committee of the Board, auditor and other advisors. The Company is contemplating a change of control or IPO for 2025 and it has engaged an IPO readiness advisory firm to work with the CFO in preparation for that outcome. The CFO will need relevant experience to lead financial components of the IPO readiness process, S-1 preparation, road show and investor relations elements of that transition.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic management of the Accounting, Financial Analysis, Treasury, Audit (PCAOB), Tax and HR functions. 
  • Coordinates with independent auditors, Board Finance Committee, Banks, Investors
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, and tax returns.
  • Compares revenue and profit projections to actuals and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; advises necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Manages accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Drives the company’s financial planning, planning processes, and improvements to processes.
  • Works with the CEO and department heads to coordinate planning, budgeting and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Analyzes opportunities for expansion into new product areas. Develops financials for business plans. 
  • Leads budgeting process informed by regular updates on companywide performance.
  • Works with CAO and CEO on capital raises and M&A.
  • Leads IPO readiness, including financial systems implementations and upgrades.
  • Decides on company’s excess cash investment strategies, control requirements and risk management of the company’s finances.
  • Chairs the company’s 401K Steering committee.
  • Participates in Board meetings, decisions on major hires
  • Participates on the Finance Committee and Compensation Committee

Requirements

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required, CPA designation preferred
  • 15 to 20 years of experience in financial management required, at least five in senior positions
  • Excellent team player, working effectively across functional areas, committed to finding way to "yes"
  • Excellent leader, rallying the organization with the support of reliable data/information
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent financial modeling abilities
  • Flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing business environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems (SAP and Adaptive Planning)
  • Extensive financial experience in multi-country, multi-currency environment
  • Experience in taking companies public in the US and in managing public companies
  • Able to partner with dynamic, highly driven and strongly entrepreneurial CEO; ability to ascertain business justification in context of risks and other opportunities
  • Strengths in simplifying complexity without resistance to new or complicated new opportunities, business models and collaborations, so long as there is good business justification
  • Ability to mentor younger, less experienced managers, setting systems for growth and accountability
