Description:

The role of the shift lead is to assist the Shift Supervisor over the course of the shift. The Shift Lead is a functional lead position. The Shift Lead will assist other employees with their daily responsibilities and see that the shift goals and company goals are met. The Shift Lead will report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

• Report any issues that arise over the course of a shift to the Shift Supervisor
• Monitor team performance and ensure duties are performed efficiently
• Will ensure all aspects of a shift run smoothly and efficiently
• Oversee the activities of a group of employees over the course of the shift
• Coach team members and train new staff
• Will support the team to ensure a continuous operation
• Ensure all paperwork (EOS) is filled out properly and turned in to the shift supervisor
• Supports the operation during SKU changes
• Will work to resolve upset conditions in a timely manner
• Ensure employee are getting their breaks in accordance with the break schedule
• Establish task for employees to ensure a clean workplace
• Will keep up with the production schedule to ensure all lines are running efficiently
• Assists the Manufacturing Supervisor during accident investigations
• Attend all GEMBA meetings on days in which you are schedule to work
• Work with the Warehouse Supervisor to gather and stage the necessary materials prior to the start of the SKU
• Will relieve operators that are on break
• Cover open machine operator positions as needed when needed
• Work with the CC and KL supervisors over the course of the shift to ensure a stable and efficient process
• Will carry out all tasks assigned by the supervisor, management, or their designee as necessitated by the business
• Other duties as necessitated by the business

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of manufacturing experience working with complex equipment preferred
• Ability to be trained on powered equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Be on your feet for 10-12 hours
• Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted
• Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
• Ability to work in hot and cold environments
• Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
• Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
