SCOPE OF POSITION

The Shipping Clerk will perform shipping, and document control related duties required to fill customer orders.

JOB DUTIES

• Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
• Select the appropriate carrier and uses a shipping software to process packages for shipment via LTL or small package carrier.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items within outgoing shipments and verifies information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and/or other records.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
• Verifies and keeps records on shipments
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers
• Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons

Schedule:

1 Opening for First Shift

• Monday to Friday - 7:30am - 3:45pm

1 Opening for Second Shift

• Monday to Friday - 4:15pm - 12:30am

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of shipping related experience preferred
• Experience with MS Excel and UPS/FEDEX online software is required
• Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers
• Familiarity with common material handling equipment (scanners, etc)
• Fluency in English language required

Job Type: Full-time
