Quality Control Inspector I
Position Summary
The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, maintains the Quality system as directed. Main responsibility for the Quality Inspector is the successful development of quality inspection processes. Timing and prioritization of tasks are provided by the Quality Manager, but detailed guidance is not needed.
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform routine in-process and final inspections at the direction of the Chief Inspector using standard measuring equipment – Micrometers, Calipers Drop Indicators, Optical Comparator, etc.
Perform inspections using coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and visual measurement machines (VMM)
Perform Visual Inspections using microscopes.
Perform incoming inspection of material using standard measuring tools and special Material tester.
Document Non-conformances as per operating procedures.
Generate spreadsheets for data collection.
Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
Interact with Inspectors as needed.
Test incoming raw materials.
Perform 1st piece inspections (parts off a specific Manufacturing Operation) of components/parts using inspection equipment ranging from micrometers/calipers to Optical Measuring systems to determine compliance to specifications.
Perform internal measuring equipment calibrations.
All other duties as assigned by manager
Education And Experience Required
Minimum of 1-2 years as an Inspector in quality control function in manufacturing environment or equivalent
Ability to use microscope and different measurement equipment (VMM, Comparator, Micrometers, gages, etc.)
Basic Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
Knowledge of mechanical drawings; reading drawings/blue prints
Mechanical gauging and inspection, and drawing interpretation
Knowledge and experience with inspection/measuring equipment including but limited to:
Micrometers – Outside, point & blade,
Calipers
Drop Indicators
Video/ Optical Inspection systems – such as Optical Comparators and/or Video Inspection (Micro Vu, Ram Optical)
CMM (Zeiss/ Excel Micro Vu
Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements
Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
Clear communication (oral and written) skills
Ability to keep accurate records
Ability to follow documented procedures and standards
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision
Computer skills. Microsoft Office is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
