Shift Supervisor

Essential Functions

  • Ensures the safety, welfare, and the preservation of rights of clients. Interactions with clients, staff, and visitors should always be with respect and dignity. Throughout the shift monitors and provides direct supervision of Direct Support Professionals to ensure programmatic and administrative activities are carried out. 
  • Ensures the home has adequate supplies as needed to carry out treatment plans.
  • Assists with training residential staff for assigned homes.
  • Reviews and monitors to ensure·a11 documentation for assigned unit(s) is completed. If necessary, takes immediate action of noted concerns. ·
  • Oversees Direct Support Professionals in the completion of incident reports, restraint forms, and staff injury reports within his/her assigned unit. Reviews these forms for accuracy, legibility, and to ensure they are completed in a timely manner. 
  • Conducts preliminary investigations into client and staff incidents and injuries.
  • Completes work schedules for Direct Support Professionals assigned to his/her unit. Reviews schedules in advance to provide accurate daily coverage sheets for assigned unit.
  • Maintains a record of staff conduct and attendance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Employee will work a rotating schedule as needed to provide direct support and supervision of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As this is a residential setting, employees are assigned shifts. Employee must be able to flex hours and must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed.

Travel

This position requires less than 10% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate Level
  • Two years' experience working in the Mental Health and Developmental Disability field. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services

Shift Supervisor

Summary/Objective 

Bingham Gardens Residential Department provides around the clock training, support, and supervision of residents in a multitude of settings including but not limited to home, day programming, work, and recreation. Staff in the homes teach a variety of skills related to day to day living such as home management, hygiene, leisure, and community living skills. All services are provided at the highest standard of professional practice, complying with standards by both federal and state regulations and facility policies. 

Required Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent 
  • Two years’ experience working in Mental Health and/or developmental disability field 

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services Essential Functions

  • Responsible, in designated role, for providing, directly or through contract, competitive/supported employment/work training for all Bingham Gardens residents. 
  • Responsible for ensuring Bingham Garden residents are given ample and sufficient supports and services necessary to ensure they can become an active member within the community which will assist with enhancing their lives. 
  • Drive residents to designated locations when necessary. 
  • Ensures the safety, welfare, and the preservation of rights of residents. Interactions with residents, staff, and visitors should always be with respect and dignity.

  • Understand and implement behavioral programs. 
  • Completes, reviews and/or monitors to ensure all documentation for assigned unit(s) is completed. If necessary, takes immediate action of noted concerns. 
  • Oversees DSPs in the completion of incident reports, restraint forms, and staff injury reports within his/her assigned unit. Reviews these forms for accuracy, legibility, and to ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Conducts preliminary investigations into resident and staff incidents and injuries.

  • In collaboration with Shift Coordinators (will we have these/access to them? Or will this be the CHD), ensures enough staff are available in their assigned work area to ensure scheduled activities are carried out. 
  • Assists in maintaining an attractive, well furnished, safe, and sanitary living environment for the residents and staff. 
  • Conducts resident property inventories as assigned. Ensures residents have all the necessary items to carry them throughout the routine of their day to include but not be limited to sufficient, weather appropriate clothing, personal hygiene products and items of personal interest. 
  • Learn and follow all policies and procedures. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
