Opportunity Overview:

Our client, an international leader in their industry, is searching for an Assistant Controller with 6 years’ experience to help build the next generation of their family-owned business. With over 60 years of proven success, and a focus on continued growth, you would be an integral part of this exciting time. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you’ll supervise the Staff Accountant and Fixed Assets Manager. You’ll manage internal control techniques, successful audits and fraud avoidance, and oversee tax return preparation and consolidating multi-entity sets of books through statement of cash flows for the annual report. This multi-faceted role also delivers ad hoc financial analysis upon request. What’s more, work/life balance matters here, with generous vacation and paid time off. What you’ll be doing:

  • Direct activities for identifying the organization's liability to taxing authorities for licenses and income, payroll, and property taxes.
  • Maintain external audit and tax partner relationship and oversee annual audit activity through preparing the annual report.
  • Assist with company budget process management.
  • Oversee outsourced and internal activities for tax return planning and preparation.
  • Analyze effect of GAAP accounting practices, and study regulations and guidance to ensure correct internal procedures and methods.
  • Manage monthly financial statement close process, prepare detailed journal entries, account analyses, and summary feedback of financial statement budget variances.
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed, while ensuring compliance with company procedures and policies; establish proper techniques to identify and prevent fraud.
  • Own and influencemodification and development of certain Oracle Financials enterprise business system functions and features.
  • Work directly with company auditors.
  • Reviewand advise on accounting and financial processes.
  • Supervise the Staff Accountant and make sure timely monthly financial information is prepared in accordance with GAAP.
  • Supervise the Fixed Assets Manager, while ensuring that fixed assets are tracked accurately and properly depreciated for tax and GAAP purposes.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • CPA credentials and a bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4-7 years’ accounting management experience, with a focuson applied GAAP Compliance knowledge
  • Proven, successful leadership experience and team collaboration in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated project management/coordination leadership
  • Exceptional written, verbal communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of public accounting experience
  • Large-scale ERP systems experience
  • Previous experience in manufacturing/agriculture
  • Oracle experience

Key accountabilities and how performance is measured:

  • Establish and maintain documented internal procedures and processes
  • Produce timely weekly cash forecasts
  • Produce timely monthly analysis and financial statements
  • Commitment to teamwork, as measured by manager and 360 reviews
  • Respond to feedback from internal and external customer issues in a timely manner

Top priorities your first 3 months:

  • Develop afull, thorough understanding of thespecific characteristics of the company’sprocesses, policies, and businesses
  • Assume ownership of the Company’s financial statement preparation and month-end close process

Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-time (W-2)Estimated Start Date: ASAPLocation:Washington State, less than 2 hours from Seattle. On site, with possibility of some remote.
