DescriptionThe Maintenance Mechanic Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains store facilities and equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the Market/Division’s business goals and objectives.
Position Criteria• Installs and maintains store facilities and equipment. • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of store facilities and equipment; performs scheduled maintenance repairs of store equipment. • Performs a variety of general carpentry, handyman, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs on facility.• Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of facilities, machines, and equipment.• Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. • Diagnoses problems replace or repair parts, test and adjust. • Performs regular preventive maintenance on store facilities, machines, and equipment. • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, and electric meters in performing duties. • Detects faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. • Complies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. • Following Heartland’s approval process, subcontracts repair to preferred vendors when necessary• Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
• High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience. • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus; and/or a degree or certificate from an accredited technical school strongly preferred. • Ability to reprioritize workload, as necessary, to address safety and emergency situations, is required.• Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to follow through on multiple tasks.• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.• Available to travel within a market or division, sometimes with short notice. • Strong work ethic; independently motivated to produce results with limited influence from others • Hard worker, someone who works diligently to get tasks done and demonstrates personal characteristics, such as responsibility, dependability, conscientiousness, communication, and teamwork • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret information, identify problems, and make decisions • Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures and guidelines • Depending on location, our stores may be open 7 days a week, which may include weekends and some holidays • Commitment to following established safety policies and procedures
