Description

Summary

The Planner position is responsible and fully accountable for the successful planning and execution of programs under his or her leadership. The Planner will assume complete responsibility to generate detailed instructions for the manufacture of complex components and assemblies including tooling and support equipment. 

Essential Functions

1. Creates demand for purchasing in ERP system.
2. Creates and revises routers for projects.
3. Coordinates with other departments to create “all-encompassing” planning for components.
4. Communicates with department stakeholders to ensure their planning needs are accommodated. Priority planning of long lead items commercial or fabricated.
5. Coordinates with Tool Makers to determine raw material size requirements. Provides close attention to material types.
6. Generates product flow sequencing (Manufacturing Methods).
7. Identifies special process or test/ inspection requirements.
8. Participates in the initial review of product nonconformance’s and rework instructions when applicable.
9. Advises internal customers on options for corrections, translates the customer’s instructions into planning, and monitors the corrections to a successful conclusion.
10. Identifies, qualifies, and maintains relationships with external fabrication service providers.
11. Works with Quality to maintain vendor qualification records.
12. Works closely with TDS fabrication and Project Management to ensure project and schedule requirements are maintained.
13. Creates and/or works with Supply Chain to create and place PO’s to fabrication vendors. (PO’s of a certain value and higher must be approved by Chief Procurement Officer.)

Requirements

Preferred

1. Education: Degree in Engineering preferred Associates Degree with equivalent experience
2. Experience: Five years of planning experience preferred and/or five years of experience in the manufacturing process. 
3. Excellent print reading ability.
4. Work well with little direction/supervision.
5. Must be a self-starter and highly motivated.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Strong problem-solving skills, capable of coming up with creative approaches for generating new ideas and improving existing processes.
8. Demonstrated experience with analyzing, organizing, and entering information associated with documentation
9. Other Skills: Ability to multi-task, works independently and in team-setting, and interface at all levels of management. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
10. Experience with ERP software preferred.
11. Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality systems a preferred.
