Job Description

This is an On Call position with no fixed schedule. This position will provide backup support to full time employees during vacations and other periods of leave. Chosen candidate must be able to pass a Government Background investigation and an extensive credit check.

 

ON CALL MAIL CLERK

 

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • *The willingness and ability to be on call and able to work with little notice*
  • Drop off and pickup of mail.
  • Receiving hand delivered outgoing mail and application of correct postage.
  • Sorting and collating mail.
  • Disposing of junk mail.
  • Date stamping of all incoming OASAM mail.
  • Correcting and rerouting returned mail.
  • Applying postage to outgoing mail and ensuring the correct funding code is applied.
  • Weighing mail to determine correct postage.
  • Recording and processing registered mail.
  • Recording and processing certified mail using approved method, i.e., Stamps.com or Pitney Bowes.
  • Ensuring mailroom is adequately stocked with mail supplies.
  • Transport letters, small packages, boxes weighing 50 pounds or less.
  • Safely loading and unloading cargo (packages, supplies and equipment. etc.), alone or with assistance of one or more employees if necessary.
  • Updating spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Verifying addresses.
  • Verifying, creating and/or distributing reports.
  • Filing of documents and invoices (electronically and manually).
  • Usage of Microsoft Outlook – corresponding with customers, contracting officer, and contracting officer representative.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be proficient in operating postal and administrative equipment such as a desktop computer, digital mail processing equipment and appropriate software in support of administrative and postal duties.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office and other applications.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a Government Background investigation.
