Overview

SUPERVISION: Is responsible to and evaluated by the Executive Director. Directly supervises the Treatment Team, including therapists, clinicians, case managers, and QDDPs. Provides direction and consultative services regarding individual and unit behavioral management programming to all student service areas.

POSITION PHILOSOPHY: The Clinical Director is knowledgeable in best practice and agency accepted treatment modalities and

is a significant member of all program areas. He/She will assist in the defining, development, implementation, and coordination of

Treatment Approaches/Programs and maintaining PQI goals related to programmatic and treatment changes. The Clinical Director

will develop and actively implement training in approaches and programs to Program Area Teams. He/She will review and approve

all Behavioral Programs prior to implementation.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

ASSISTS IN DEVELOPING AND MONITORING BEHAVIOR TREATMENT PROGRAMS, AS FOLLOWS:

  • Is responsible for the development of all treatment team members, including treatment directors, therapists, clinicians, case managers, and QDDPs.
  • Assists the assigned Treatment Director, using team input, in developing and implementing Individual and Unit Behavior Management Programs per procedure.
  • Trains/in-services staff in Behavior Support Program approaches.
  • Ensures that Behavior Support Programs are proactive and therapeutic in nature.
  • Assists in developing behavioral approaches that are applicable, practical, and effective and within acceptable/ethical practice.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates Behavior Support Programs and makes revisions or directs revisions as needed.
  • Chairs the Human Rights Committee (HRC) to oversee all formal Behavior Support Programs to ensure ethical standards are followed; BSPs are appropriate to the individual, situation and facility resources; and all plans follow an understandable, consistent format to be useful tools for residents and staff.
  • Follows through with assigned Unit Treatment Team responsibilities. May include providing observations or assessments of identified residents, or assisting in developing or evaluating unit routine/schedule, unit behavioral systems, etc.
  • Supports teams by providing ongoing training in behavioral management, including coaching, role modeling and giving technical assistance in developing behavioral interventions.
  • Reviews and approves Individual Behavioral Plans prior to unit team implementation assuring that plans are presented in the approved format, are clear and concise, and follow acceptable behavioral intervention practices.
  • HAS THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO CRISIS INTERVENTION:

  • Reviews the implementation of Agency-approved interventions and strategies with residents in crisis.
  • Reviews for appropriateness the implementation of behavioral management and necessary control procedures.
  • Maintains awareness of all general (including unit and intervention strategies) and individual behavior management programs and implements them as defined.
  • Provides direct and immediate feedback and pursues follow-up dialogue with staff involved in difficult crisis intervention.
  • Has on-call responsibilities for the clinical support of the building.
  • IS RESPONSIBLE FOR STAFF PERFORMANCE AND TRAINING IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

  • Provides the director with information and recommendations regarding staff performance, conduct, training needs, commendations, and need for support or counseling.
  • Develops and implements staff training related to behavior management, therapeutic modalities, company philosophies, and behavior treatment strategies.
  • Review, maintains, and analyses QA data as it relates to treatment fidelity.
  • HAS THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITY RELATED TO ASSESSMENTS:

    Coordinates and monitors identified behavioral assessments.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a License from the state of Indiana as either Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or Licenses Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). In addition, a Minimum of four (4) years experience, and demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with ID/DD diagnosed students with emotional regulation needs in a therapeutic environment.
