Scope of Position

The Revenue Manager is responsible for working with the Revenue Management team in determining strategic goals and tactical efforts, which drive revenue to the hotel. The position oversees the inventory management system to verify appropriateness of agreed upon selling strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Revenue Manager or 2 years’ experience in a related area.
  • Ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data.
  • Knowledge of total hotel revenue management concepts, processes, and strategies (including sales cycles and trends, account management, pricing, and inventory management).
  • Proven experience in analysis and problem solving required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints is key to the success of this individual.

Responsibilities

  • Maximizes net room revenue contribution through a thorough understanding of all booking channels and management of inventory and rate therein.
  • Ensures that sales strategies and rate restrictions are communicated, implemented, and modified as market conditions fluctuate.
  • Works with Team to determine effective and engaging rate offers (packages).
  • Monitors transient, group and tour booking pace to determine pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources.
  • Assists in creating promotional campaigns to generate business, work with front desk personnel to track customer trends and reservations and communicate with sales teams to gather sales figures.
  • Forecasts future demand and pricing trends.
  • Completes all rooms and revenue forecasting to accurately project unconstrained demand.
  • Tracking and analyzing competitive set pricing and yield strategies, gaining the ability to predict the comp set reaction to changes in the marketplace.
  • Chairs and prepares materials for the weekly Revenue Management meetings and follows the property guidelines for meeting content.
  • Provides guided learning so that all areas of the hotel that impact revenue are fully aware of the hotel RM strategies and understand their role in the plan.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Education

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university; 2 years’ experience in the revenue management, sales and marketing, or related professional area.

OR

  • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Economics, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; no work experience required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and interpret varied data, evaluate alternatives, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Ability to use word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, and database programs to develop reports, databases, and communications materials.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly to solve work-related issues.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
  • Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
  • Use telephone and computer keyboard daily.
  • Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
