Who We Are
Tasso is a fast-growing Seattle-based startup that delivers at-home diagnostic testing to those who need it most. Tasso was founded to find a better way to collect blood than a painful fingerstick or time-consuming venous draw. Since then, our products have been used in pharmaceutical clinical trials, by Olympians as part of a new virtual anti-doping program, and broadly by hospital systems across the US. We are growing our footprint with leading health systems, clinical research organizations, academic medical centers, and more who are looking to deliver clinical-grade, convenient diagnostic tests to their patients.
We are looking for an experienced innovator responsible for the strategy, timing, delivery of R&D projects. This position will report to our CTO and provide hands-on expertise and leadership to the R&D team. An ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of increasing experience in advancing technological capabilities in the medical diagnostics space.
You Will:
- Oversee all R&D projects defined as early-phase product developments, co-development programs with industry partners, and projects undertaken by Tasso to maintain thought leadership in the remote diagnostic space
- Guide a team of cross-functional engineers and scientists to ensure successful completion of programs that may include integration of chemical, mechanical, electrical, and software developments into new products that improve the ability to access high-quality diagnostics from home
- Maintain thought leadership in the physiology and biology of blood collection, sample preparation, and sample stability
- Respond to feedback from the customer and internal product team to identify and demonstrate the feasibility of new designs and improvements that improve product market fit
- Identify and demonstrate the feasibility and utility of novel technologies that will disrupt the at-home diagnostic space and provide significant clinical value to patients
- Represent the company at conferences and customer visits, and collaborate externally with academic and industrial partners
- Promote the corporate vision and a productive R&D culture that is motivated and accountable
- Ensure projects meet timelines and deliverables
- Develop and support new research proposals or other sources of non-dilutive funding, such as co-developments with industry
- Communicate progress across senior leadership
- Collaborate internally with all departments to ensure high product quality and customer satisfaction
You Are
- An accomplished researcher with a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, biosciences, or relevant science specialization.
- A professional with 10 years of experience conducting project-oriented research and development.
- A proven leader with a verifiable track record of developing and managing multiple research programs that take new products to market.
- An agile innovator that works best in a fast-paced environment and can manage changes in project priorities and objectives
