Searching for an energetic, caring individual to provide Respite for a child who is on the children's mental health waiver. Respite provides families a break from each other to reduce stress within the home.
Respite services are provided out of your own home. This typically occurs from Friday early evening around 5 pm to Sunday around 1 pm. You can sleep when the child sleeps as well! Providers get to be a fun, positive influence in kids' lives by spending time with them doing activities such as playing video games, going to parks, going on walks, getting ice cream, doing community activities, etc. Activities and how you spend time is up to you and the individual's family.
For this child, you must be available to provide 2 weekends of Respite/ month.
Reimbursement is $400/ weekend. You must have your medication manager's certification and be able to provide a copy to have on file, or be willing to obtain one at your own cost.
Requirements:
- be 18 years of age
- have a high school diploma or equivalent
- have reliable transportation, maintain a valid driver's license, and maintain auto insurance
- have a phone to communicate with family members and access to a computer to enter documentation
- have a safe, clean living environment for the individual to spend the weekend and sleep
- be consistent, reliable and responsible while providing services, and be willing to provide services a minimum of 2 weekends/ month
-have your medication manager's certification and be able to provide a copy
-be comfortable working with medical issues and hygiene maintenance
- be able to pass criminal background and DHS Abuse Registries
