IT Technician

Summary

Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
  • Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
  • Responds to co-worker inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with current systems and perform needed adjustments.
  • Document new tasks needed to perform job duties and improve current documentation.
  • Perform network maintenance with wiring and connections for network and attached equipment.

Requirements

  • Vocational degree in Information Technology, certification such as CompTIA A or Net , or 2 years' IT experience.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to manage projects independently.
  • Ability to multitask all levels of operations and daily tasks.
  • Strong communication and prioritization / time management skills with the ability to support the IT needs of office personnel and production facility (computer / tablet / phone / networking equipment setup and maintenance).
  • IP Camera and VOIP experience preferred.
