TANGANYIKA WILDLIFE PARK. is Hiring a Retail Manager Near Goddard, KS

Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, KS is looking for hardworking, self-motivated, dedicated staff. The park is 25 acres and has another 40 acres to expand, and we plan on growing. A new children’s zoo and safari park are among the expansion plans. Tanganyika prides itself on providing wildly different experiences for its guests and being stewards for the animals in our care. In the past year, we have developed a set of core values to guide leadership and our team to improve and meet our goal of becoming a destination park for visitors and a great place to work. Tanganyika’s Retail Manager will be responsible for working with the Chief of Guest Engagement to manage all retail operations and for delivering an excellent guest experience. This is a working manager position, and will be the main on-the-floor employee in the spring and fall. The ideal candidate would provide exceptional internal and external customer service levels and manage day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines. We want someone to lead our Retail team as the park grows by attracting, recruiting, training, and nurturing an ownership environment emphasizing motivation and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Criminal background check required for this position
  • Must hold valid driver’s license
  • Management experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to spot and resolve challenges efficiently
  • Desire to grow as a team member, leader, and human being
  • Ability to stand or walk and be able to perform physical work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 50-75 pounds when necessary
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, weekdays, holidays

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $15.00/hour, base may be negotiable based on experience

Retail Task and Responsibility list

  • Work in gift shop alongside staff
  • Interview, hire and on-board new team members
  • Monitors the work performance of staff and trains and develops team members through one-on-one discussions, performance evaluations and should-to-shoulder education so they excel in their current role and are prepared for future career opportunities
  • Manage time off requests and schedules
  • Maintain relationships with gift shop vendors
  • Place orders for product
  • Receive product
    • check in, enter into POS, add to inventory, price, print tags if needed, get out to sell
  • Ensure product is churning through the gift shop
  • Oversee product storage
  • Order supplies, fixtures, etc when needed
  • Physical inventory
  • Merchandising, put together promotions
  • Read on current trends, find new product to add
  • Troubleshoot/assist with tech issues
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the Chief of Guest Engagement
