Our mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. In Maine we serve over 5,000 athletes and offer 90 events year-round at the local, state, national and international levels.
We are seeking an energetic, organized, and motivated individual to join our small team as Camp Tall Pines Summer Support Staff.
Description:
Special Olympics Maine is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as Camp Tall Pines Summer Support Staff. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that campers and their staff have a memorable and enriching experience at our Summer Camp located in Poland, Maine.
Responsibilities:
· Foster a positive and inclusive and physically safe environment where campers feel supported and valued.
· Help with meal preparation, serving, and clean-up as needed.
· Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of camp facilities and grounds.
· Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other camp-related activities as required.
· Serve as a role model for campers by demonstrating positive behavior and attitude.
· Assist in cleaning cabins, bathrooms, dining areas, and other camp facilities on a regular basis.
· Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the camp program.
Qualifications:
· Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing situations.
· Must pass background check.
· Physical ability to perform tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving objects weighing up to 50lbs.
· Demonstrated capability to engage in physical labor and maintenance tasks essential for camp upkeep and operation.
· Ability to drive and/or willingness to learn to drive a pontoon boat.
· Ability to drive and/or willingness to learn to drive a Utility Vehicle.
· Reliable transportation to and from work.
