Talk O' Texas is Hiring a HR/Office Assistant Near San Angelo, TX

Great entry level HR/Business Admin opportunity! We are looking for a go-getter with clerical/reception/customer service experience to work part-time afternoons during our summer/fall production season. The job starts immediately and will continue until at least November 4th. Possibly longer. This person is vital to the success of our department and will have the opportunity to learn about all facets of human resources. Seasonal variable hours - 25 to 35 hours a week (Core schedule M - F 11 am to 5 pm).

The ideal candidate will:

  • be self-motivated, a fast learner and show initiative to problem solve visitors, employees and company needs
  • have the ability to work independently, make decisions and solve problems effectively 

Duties and responsibilities

Administrative Duties

  • Answers telephone and screens calls. Greets employees and visitors to the office in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support as needed to HR and Chief Operating Officer (data entry, filing, creating spreadsheets/reports, activating employee badges, etc.)

Human Resources 

  • Assists with telephone interviews, processing applications and new hire paperwork
  • Data entry of employee information in timeclock, payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Assist with employee attendance monitoring, entering absence notes and missed punches in timeclock for seasonal employees.
  • Assist with seasonal employee orientations and onboarding
  • Assist/document minor first aid incidents (Band-Aids, icepacks, Tylenol, etc.). 
  • assist employees with HR related matters (time, schedule, employment verification)
  • distribute weekly paychecks
  • prepares outgoing mail; sorts and distributes incoming mail
  • post office runs to pick up mail (mileage paid)
  • filing paperwork with accuracy
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)
  • Ability to use basic office equipment (i.e. telephone system, printer, fax, copier, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English (and preferably Spanish)
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, employee issues and company business
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organization skills; accuracy is essential

Working conditions

  • Seasonal variable hours - 30 to 40 hours a week (Core hours M-F 11 pm– 5 pm)
  • Office environment with moderate-to-high public/associate interaction.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to read and communicate instruction, processes and procedures to staff.
  • Required to sit at computer workstation approximately 6 to 8 hours a day.
  • Assigned to answer and direct phone calls.
  • Occasionally required to move about the production and warehouse facilities.
  • Often required to stand, reach, pull and bend when performing required tasks.
