Tactical Engineering Analysis is Hiring a Technical Writer Near San Diego, CA

Overview

We are currently seeking a Technical Writer to support our customer. You would be directly supporting the Information Warfare (IW) into Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) program. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Independently provide technical writing guidance to the U.S. Government in the generation of installation, integration, test, analysis, and evaluation documentation including the integration of various simulation and tranining software and equipment for various test events, engineering meetings, conferences, and technical working groups.
  • Use independent discretion to consult system engineers to understand and appropriately comment on, update, and revise technical documentation.
  • Assist with development, review, and maintaining program artifacts. This includes requirement traceability, test and installation plans, and test and installation reports, as well as automated methods for tracking program requirements.
  • Use independent discretion to apply quality assurance (QA) expertise for program documentation artifacts to support installation, integration, test and training plan development, requirement analysis and general program documentation enhancements.
  • Assist with creation, updates, and inputs for the preparation and revision of technical documentation including briefs, system design, system integration, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
  • Assist with interation tests and technical demonstration event

Equipment Used: USG provided NMCI Computer and peripheral equipment

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment
  • Computer/Equipment lab
  • Non-hostile

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Possibility of Domestic and International travel up to 10% of the time by car, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written and Verbal Communications: 

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.

Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience preparing technical documentation in accordance with DoD directives to document military testing, requirements analysis, definition, and design specifications.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience includes the consolidation of inputs from multiple personnel to generate informative reports, user manuals, System Requirements Specifications, and Interface Design Specifications.
  • Minimum three (5) years of knowledge of word processing and database systems.

Customer Interface Activities: 

  • Frequent coordination with Program Management & technical leadership
  • Frequent coordination with Program Office leadership civilian & military representatives
  • Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involving stakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations.

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Travel: Possibility of Domestic and International travel up to 10% of the time by car, air, etc.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information SYstems, IT, Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or Creative Writing;
  • or Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in technical writing.

Pay Range: $69,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually, DOE

U.S. Citizenship is required

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
