About the Cloud Security Engineer position

We are looking for a talented Cloud Security Engineer to join our team in Suitland, MD. You will assist with the development, monitoring, and testing of cloud security architectures protecting critical missions deployed in cloud and hybrid cloud environments. You will work closely with peers in an agile environment to rapidly develop and enhance security strategies across the enterprise. We are looking for a goal-oriented team player who is comfortable brainstorming solutions with coworkers, customers, and other stakeholders.

Cloud Security Engineer responsibilities are:

• Design and implement security architectures following best practices and compliance requirements on cloud and hybrid cloud environments
• Provide actionable guidance and input to variety of peers including software developers and scientists to develop strategies that accomplish organizational objectives and requirements while complying with security requirements and best practices
• Recommend, design, and implement cloud-native services and technologies to address specific requirements and use cases
• Review proposed designs and implementation plans for adherence to security requirements and best practices
• Plan, conduct, and coordinate responses to routine and ad-hoc internal security testing including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and web application scanning
• Create training materials and documentation describing security architectures, policies, and procedures
• Support the automation of cloud deployments and integration of security tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Support external security assessments, audits, and penetration tests by interfacing with assessment teams and coordinating any corrective actions

Cloud Security Engineer requirements are:

• 4 years of cybersecurity experience
• 2 years of experience of using AWS cloud services
• Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS, API Gateway and RDS
• Experience with the AWS Shared Responsibility Model including identifying, designing, and documenting security controls with customer responsibility in System Security Plans
• Experience with the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of security technologies and processes including Identity and Access Management (IAM), key management, and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools
• Experience with YAML, JSON, and XML
• Experience with issue tracking software (preferably Jira)
• Familiarity with modern DevOps principles, practices, methods, and tools.
• Familiarity with programming languages, agile development practices, and use of APIs
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• BS degree in Computer Science or other related area
• Must be able to pass a full background investigation and obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility

Desired Qualifications are:

• Experience with Federal government environments and concepts including FedRAMP, NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-53 security controls, Authorization to Operate (ATO), and Assessments and Authorization (A&A)
• Programming or scripting skills
• Industry certifications such as AWS certifications, CISSP, CCSP, Cloud , Security , and GCLD
