Responsibilities

Each Development Officer contributes to the success of Tabitha by identifying, cultivating and soliciting financial gifts from individuals and corporations while developing and managing an effective stewardship plan. This TEAMember establishes, maintains and executes plans for ongoing relations with constituents to help support annual fundraising goals. Emphasis is placed on face-to-face contact with donors and friends, in order to facilitate the opportunity to support the Mission and Vision of Tabitha. Teamwork is the key to success in all of our efforts and collaboration is a must. This TEAMember works independently but with the approval and direction of the Executive Director of the Foundation. This TEAMember strives to uphold Tabitha’s LIVE2Care culture and actively embraces Tabitha’s Core Values. By doing so, the TEAMember supports Tabitha goals related to the dignity, respect, independence, competence, autonomy, personal comfort, safety and security of Seniors/clients/residents (hereinafter, “Seniors/clients”). In addition, the TEAMember contributes to the success of Tabitha through ongoing collaboration with community members, family members, TEAMembers, management, volunteers and others in the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and maintain relationships with organizations and individuals focused on securing financial gifts needed to support the Mission and Vision of Tabitha.
  • Cultivate relationships with an assigned portfolio of (100 ) donors and prospects to solicit major gifts in order to advance the mission and vision of Tabitha.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for this portfolio of prospects, implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record (using Raisers Edge) of all interactions.
  • Secure sponsors/donors for fundraising events and activities.
  • Meets with prospective donors and solicit planned gifts.
  • Execute strategies, with a clear understanding of the principles and methods of moves management.
  • Collaborates with other TEAMembers, departments and others to maximize productivity and achieve overall success.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the Mission and Vision of Tabitha, along with programs and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborates with numerous TEAMembers and departments, as well as Tabitha leaders.
  • Oversees the full utilization of the Tabitha Foundation donor management system (Raiser’s Edge) ensuring that all relevant information is appropriately tracked and reported; including donor and prospect records, prospect research, appointment schedules and development progress reports.
  • ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Travels locally on a daily basis to network with donors.
  • Participates fully as a member of Tabitha’s leadership, contributing the skills, talents and abilities that are unique to the individual for the good of Tabitha. Is a constant learner, willingly providing and receiving support. Embraces responsibility for the success of various Tabitha initiatives, taking on fair share of workload for implementing said initiatives.
  • Prioritizes work load to ensure that all essential functions are addressed effectively, making appropriate adjustments throughout each day and each work week to meet changing and/or competing priorities when necessary. Frequently works more than 40 hours in any given work week, based on the needs of Tabitha, the department, projects and/or deadlines.
  • Utilizes strength and stamina to carry out all essential functions safely and effectively. Willingly takes on additional duties and works as long as necessary during times of peak workload. Adaptable and flexible, capable of working collaboratively with team members to achieve overall goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates good judgement, excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust to changing work needs.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding privacy by insuring that Protected Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded at all times. In addition, maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding any matter pertaining to any Tabitha Seniors/clients.
  • Consistently uses strength, dexterity, agility and good body mechanics when performing essential functions. Follows appropriate safety and infection control policies and procedures of Tabitha and/or community and regulatory agencies.
  • Assures reports of all broken and malfunctioning equipment are made in a timely manner.
  • Follows disaster plans and uses strength and agility during participation in preparedness drills and actual emergencies. Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Follows Tabitha protocol for submission of completed documentation as it pertains to time records, expense accounts, donor records, event records and all other similar documentation required by Tabitha.
  • Completes required training and in-services promptly. Demonstrates understanding of the course content and implements training in daily activities.
  • Makes good decisions that contribute to the success of the department and Tabitha. Makes decisions about matters of importance, including decisions regarding complex issues.
  • Performs work duties within the assigned work environment related to the position, as assigned by Tabitha, regardless of TEAMember preference.
  • Maintains courteous relationship with members of management, TEAMembers, other stakeholders and volunteers, providing leadership, support and assistance as needed to ensure achievement of departmental and corporate goals. Volunteers to assist others and seeks opportunities to serve Tabitha.
  • Participates in meetings and in-services, both on a departmental level and on a company level.
  • Maintains a good record of attendance and punctuality as defined by Tabitha’s policy pertaining to attendance and punctuality. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by Tabitha.
  • Complies with Tabitha policies and procedures as published by Tabitha and which may be modified at Tabitha’s discretion. Contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement activities by identifying instances of non-compliance and taking appropriate action, including reporting violations of Tabitha policy or regulations as appropriate.
  • Acts with integrity and in the best interest of Tabitha. Business relationships are conducted in the best interest of Tabitha, free of gifts, cash inducements, gratuities, favors, or other perceived improper inducements.

    Qualifications

    COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as terminology and jargon specific to the job. Understands written and verbal instructions. Expert level written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills. Sufficient fluency to be able to train TEAMembers, explain complex problems to vendors, hold a conversation, conduct or participate in meetings, compose professional e-mails or other written communication, complete documentation requirements of the job and interact with donors, community members, management, vendors, state officials, employees, peer coworkers, customers, volunteers and managers effectively. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies and emotional situations. Ability to work with spreadsheets, software and perform complex mental tasks. Facilitates departmental meetings as needed to keep TEAMembers informed of business and department changes.

    WORKSITE CONDITIONS: Works both indoors in a facility maintained by Tabitha that will typically be in good repair, clean, well ventilated and well lit and in vehicles traveling to donor appointments/events. Work is performed in a standard office setting and in the community. Works under daily and hourly deadlines, requiring uninterrupted periods of intense activity. Frequent exposure to interruptions and changes in priorities. Works beyond normal scheduled hours and on weekends and holidays when assigned. Is subject to extended hours or callback during emergency conditions or based upon needs of the organization. Subject to ever changing work priorities and multiple conflicting deadlines and goals. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Ability to move about the work area. Ability to work at a computer for hours at a time. Frequent periods of intense activity, but rare need for physical strength or physical exertion. Must have the ability to spot errors or to sense when data output contains an error. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 25 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and at Tabitha’s discretion.

    EQUIPMENT USAGE: Standard and specialized equipment including laptop, PC, tablet, photocopier, scanner, fax machine, elevator, projector, telephone, and television. 

    AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. 

    EXPERIENCE: Five years of proven success and related experience in fundraising, managing portfolios with specific goals and initiatives for individual or corporate gifts and grants. Similar experience in a goal oriented environment such as sales, resource development, etc. Must be computer proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite Applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Experience with database management; Raiser’s Edge preferred.

    CREDENTIALS: Valid Nebraska Driver’s license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements.
