The position of Operating Room Staff Nurse is available to an experienced nurse seeking patient care responsibilities that do not require weekend on-call responsibilities. This is within a single-specialty ambulatory surgery center dealing mainly with adult patients. The facility is accredited by AAAASF.

The Operating Room Staff Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients while in the operating room. Participates as a team member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care. Able to utilize a body of nursing knowledge while giving direct and indirect patient care. Directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures as adopted by the center. Offers leadership to OR technicians.

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for creating an environment of patient focused care, defining and maintaining standards for quality patient care, managing and developing a work based team, training new staff and providing leadership. The facility is focused on the individual patient, one case at a time.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Assumes the primary role of circulating nurse
• Exhibits ability to coordinate the general flow of activities during case
• Knowledgeable and concerned for general welfare of patients and performs necessary nursing care while patient is in the operating room
• Can function in role of scrub nurse when needed
• Responsible for preparing instruments and equipment for specific procedures
• Responsible for OR record
• Pre-Op/PACU experience

Requirements:

• Current Georgia Registered Nursing License
• Preferably one year experience in the operating room
• Current CPR Certification
