Job Description

Job Purpose: Provides guests with skin care treatments, haircuts and styling, hair color, make-up artistry and nail services. Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time) Provides guests with manicures and pedicures by soaking, cleaning, filing, and grooming fingernails and toenails, trimming and removing cuticles, moisturizing hands and feet, removing dead skin in both areas, applying scrubs and lotions as requested, providing a light massage to improve circulation and relaxation, and applying nail polish as requested. Provides nail treatments by applying, gel polish, and related treatments, filing and shaping nails, applying creative nail polish designs, and/or gel polish as requested. Provides guests with skin care treatments by meeting with clients, ascertaining skin care goals, making recommendations about different soaks, creams, or scrubs that can be applied. Applying agreed upon waxing, skin peels, facial masks, facials, and makeup applications as requested. Provides guests with skin care product and instructions by demonstrating proper way to clean the face and use skin care products, chemical peels and/or treatment masks, instructing clients on how to use skincare tools, providing advice on correct makeup application, and making skin care product recommendations for purchase. Provides guests with haircut and styling by consulting with the guest to determine guest need, shampooing hair, cutting hair to specifications, styling hair to achieve the look based on guest feedback, and providing advice on how to maintain to look at home. Alters hair color by consulting with and advising guest on best hair color based on skin tones and hair condition, mixing reactive chemicals to achieve agreed upon color, applying and timing the color process, and rinsing and styling hair as requested. Provides a safe, clean, and sanitary environment by cleaning and disinfecting tools and work area after every appointment, and ensuring salon equipment is in good repair. Job Specifications: Education and Experience: Essential: Current Cosmetologist License with a minimum of 1600 hour program from the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. 1 year of hands on regular Cosmetologist experience in a spa, salon, or hotel and resort setting. 6 months of guest service experience. Desirable: Spa/Salon Retail sales experience. Skills and Knowledge: Essential: Working knowledge of Local, State and Federal guidelines as related to position. Ability to interact effectively with team members and guests. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language. Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure. Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions. Ability to appear for work on time. Ability to complete forms and documents. Ability to sit and stand for up to eight hours at a time. Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
