About the Position:

Swyfft Holdings, LLC is currently searching for a seasoned, results orientated, Insurance Controller. As the leader of our Insurance Finance Team, you will be responsible for premiums, claims, cash, and segregated funds. This position has a heavy emphasis on treasury skills. We use our proprietary technology to identify and allocate premium receipts and policies.

You consider yourself to be a well-rounded GAAP accounting professional with an emphasis on Cash and Statutory Accounting. You are a results-orientated team builder with superior analytical and problem-solving skills. You have a full understanding of how complex Policy Administration and Claims systems operate and understand how they interact with banking and general ledger systems.

You will play a lead role each month ensuring that monthly close deadlines are met which ensures accurate monthly reporting to our insurer and reinsurers.

You will be expected to provide subject matter expertise to accounting teams and stay current on changes in accounting standards.

  • Hold weekly team meetings and 1:1’s with direct reports to ensure the team is operating like a well-oiled machine.
  • Effective communicator that understands how to build culture and manage a remote working team.
  • Some travel (at least quarterly) to lead team meetings, trainings and for team building.

Treasury:

  • Manage and oversee treasury functions up to and including; efficient operation of lockbox, e-pay, ACH, wires, checks and positive pay, as well as maintaining SOX level controls over collections, payments, premium trust funds, and claims funds.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting for the company’s fees and commissions from our Policy Administration and Claims systems.
  • Responsible for the accurate paying of all agent commissions and claim expenses on a daily or monthly basis
  • Coordinate with operations and claims to resolve receipt and payment issues as well as reconciling all premium and claims accounts.
  • Execute the cash payments to the insurers and reinsurers based on the reporting as well as transfer the company’s fees and commissions into operating accounts.
  • Reporting: *
  • Accurate and timely close and reconciliation of all insurance related general ledger and bank accounts.
  • Prepare required monthly bordereaux reports for company reinsurers in accordance to the Agency and Treaty reinsurance contracts.
  • Ensure underwriting performance is reported by treaty year, monthly, as required by the reinsurance contracts.
  • Accurately interpret reinsurance contracts to ensure the operating system is fully compliant.

The Successful Candidate: (What we're looking for)

  • 3 years working in the insurance industry as a customer support or billing support representative.
  • You are deadline driven, with exceptional attention to detail and a master of organization. You’re proactive, you solve problems before they happen.
  • A team player that can work well on group projects or independently.
  • You are constantly looking for areas of improvement and work closely with other key functional areas such as IT, operations, sales, underwriting and claims to build more efficient processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple insurance and banking projects simultaneously, with the mindset to always finish projects ahead of the deadline.

Some Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in insurance industry (P&C preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Insurance stat accounting experience
  • CPA preferred

Computer Skills:

  • Expert level Microsoft Office (You’re master level in Excel)
  • Well versed in accounting and/or finance software programs. Previous experience with Netsuite and/or IMS is a plus.
  • Prior experience implementing insurance accounting and claims administration systems.

Other:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connectivity required.
