Description
SW North America’s Mechanical Designer Engineer’s primary responsibility is to coordinate with System Engineering Manager, Program Managers and Project Engineers during the Design and Build of SWNA Automation Systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer uses customers specifications to develop Automation Systems to satisfy the customer needs.
The Mechanical Designer performs a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
· Design Automated solutions using SW standards and including Conveyors, Pallets, Nest Fixtures, Regrip Stands, SPC Drawers, Laser Marking Stations and Manual Operator Stations
· Design of Robotic End of Arm Tooling for Material Handling Applications
· Design of 7th Axis Robotic Gantry Systems either elevated or floor mounted
· Develop System Layouts, Assembly and Detail Drawings according to Project and customer requirements
· Develop Automated Sequence of Events
· Develop Technical Scopes of Supply based on project requirements
· Collaborate with suppliers on Sub Assembly processes
· Work with the Program Manager and Project Engineer through out the design process to ensure the customer specifications are met
· Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
· All other duties as assigned
Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
· 5-10 years of experience in Mechanical Design related to System Automation
· 5-10 years of CAD experience in Solidworks or another 3D CAD System (ie. NX)
· Strong computer and mathematical skills
· Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritizing them appropriately
· Good organizational skills and detail-oriented
· Knowledge of GDT & part print reading
