What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician 1st shift position at Surlean Foods?
Purpose:
Perform chemical analysis of food samples as submitted by production and Quality Assurance personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Running all lab equipment correctly and be able to document and report on results.
- Create and manage spreadsheet for tracking and trending data for each product factors
- Create matrix for all testing requirements per product, help analyze if adjustments are needed.
- Create internal spec/ training checklist for product sample needs for each item based on audit and customer requirements.
- Perform daily upkeep and housekeeping of equipment and lab area.
- Manage lab supplies inventory and recommend manager for any orders that need to be made.
- Create matrix for managing lab equipment calibration requirements per audit or manufacturers requirements.
- Perform daily evaluations of day-of product evaluations shelf life evaluations
- Check HAT checks and notify manager of any issues.
- Create/ Close out Work Orders for facility audits and other maintenance issues
- Manage schedule for swabbing and other testing requirements based on audit requirements.
- Learn basics of each product production and learn common issues associated with product to better evaluate testing and monitoring frequency
Working Conditions:
Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.
Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
Must be able to bend, stoop and to stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge:
Must be able to learn and abide by company rules and policies, and customer specifications.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must conduct themselves in a respectable, professional and courteous fashion.
Must be able to interact with other department managers and customers.
Must be able to multi task.
Education and Work Experience: High school education or equivalent preferred. Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
