JOB TITLE:
Pharmacy Technician
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to perform routine duties including: retrieve and receive written doctor’s orders, prescriptions or files, perform clerical tasks such as typing labels and maintaining patient profiles, package medications, answer phones, keep records, accounts receivable and posting, assist with inventory control, maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy, deliver medications to nursing stations, maintain computerized databases, restock nursing med areas and all anesthesia med boxes daily, store and retrieve archived data, and other duties as defined by state and federal law under the immediate supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program required
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy or intern license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy required
- BLS certification required
- Knowledge of computers with experience in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office
- Basic working knowledge of medical-surgical services, as well as the ancillary service lines offered at a hospital preferred
