About the role:
Sunlight has facilitated the origination of over $10.5 billion in loans to consumers and is projecting a substantial increase in funded loans year over year. In connection therewith, Sunlight has certain obligations in respect of processes for underwriting and compliance with applicable consumer protection laws.
A naturally extending risk of Sunlights business is the prospect that unsatisfied or aggrieved borrowers will attempt to obtain a remedy by suing Sunlight and/or the lenders in Sunlights network. Given the Sunlights current litigation and arbitration portfolio and Sunlights desire to give appropriate attention to all consumer grievances, Sunlight desires to hire an experienced litigation attorney to: (a) manage and direct all of Sunlights litigation and arbitration cases and provide experienced counsel in connection therewith; (b) manage and direct all of Sunlights governmental or regulatory investigations; and (c) work cooperatively with, and manage relationships with, outside counsel.
What you will be doing:
As a member of the current 5 person legal and compliance team, the litigation attorney will initially report to the Managing Director, Associate General Counsel Head of Commercial Legal. The position will be based in Charlotte, NC.
What you will need:
This is a hybrid role in Charlotte, NC. You will be required to be in the office twice a week.
