Summer House on Music Lane, the full service restaurant at Hotel Magdalena, is inspired by the casual sophistication that defines a lake house weekend. The menu features honest cooking taking cues from old school hospitality but with a decidedly unpretentious, Austin sensibility. We are open to the public every day of the week on South Congress; more than a hotel restaurant!

We're looking for:
Summer House on Music Lane is looking for an AM Lead Server who will exceed the expectations of all customers in a multitude of tasks that include but are not limited to maintaining superior quality standards regarding food and drink production, preparation, sanitation, safety, and expediency of lines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Two (2) years related experience in coffee shops or service industry
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
• Ability to create documents in Excel and Word
• Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e., Point of Sale)
• Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Job Requirements:

• Train servers in service, sanitation, and safety procedures
• Resolve customer complaints regarding restaurant operations
• Maintain knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems
• Perform server and cashier duties, and assist others as needed
• Responsible for opening and closing procedures when necessary
• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
• Ensure open lines of communication with staff, all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition & report any service issues to Manager
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property & notify Manager of any areas of need
• Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
• Attend relevant meetings

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.
Working Conditions/Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting
• The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
• The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
