Systems Administrator

Position Summary: In a growing, fast paced, project oriented environment, theSystems Administrator will provide support to local users on day-to-day and project needs in Linux/Unix/Windows server environments. 

Reports to: IT Manager

Essential Functions/Duties:

• Design, develop, document, troubleshoot, and maintain programs for systems and applications in support of the manufacturing process while maintaining IT standards and projects/operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
• Serve as the primary systems administrator for Linux/Unix servers and services.
• Monitor system performance and utilization.
• Install, configure, and document new servers and applications.
• Maintain and audit user accounts.
• Manage fileserver utilization (shared folders, quotas, etc.).
• Maintain servers and system security according to campus standards.
• Track vulnerabilities and apply appropriate patches and upgrades.
• Generate statistics for operational review and planning

• Maintain, update and audit system’s documentation to insure Audit compliance.
• Completes IT related projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments.
• Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures.
• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
• Assist with managing our VMware infrastructure and NetApp SAN.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and completes in a timely manner.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• BS in Information Systems or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role including experience with in Linux/Unix system administration; access, performance, scalability, security, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Administration of Windows Server environments including SharePoint, Exchange, and Active Directory
• Must understand technical problems and solutions in relation to current as well as future business environments.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and delegate work to others in an effective manner.
• Must be able to interface well with people across various levels of the organization and across all departments (customer service focus).
• Ability to successfully work independently with little supervision while consistently utilizing initiative and good judgment.
• Strong aptitude for working with technology, coupled with the ability to learn and absorb new information quickly is required.
