What You Will Do: The Principal Data Architect is responsible for driving the architecture of data and processes to meet business needs. In addition, the Principal Data Architect will lead the design, build, and management of the overall infrastructure and underlying data model that will deliver accurate, reliable data to the right place, in the right format, at the right time. This position will be part of the Data Engineering team and will bring strong quantitative skills, experience, and strategic vision to our data engineering capabilities. In this role, you will be engaged in projects that will ultimately use the data for advanced analytics techniques, such as optimization, forecasting, machine learning, predictive maintenance, dashboarding, reporting, and statistical analysis, to develop solutions that help deliver significant value to customers. Develop a comprehensive data architecture capable of supporting various data types (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) and analytics needs from reporting to machine learning. Visualize and design a high-level technical design and framework that can be easily broken down into lower levels of detail. Evaluate and implement a variety of data tools (Python, SQL, NoSQL, Data Factory, Databricks) on Azure to build ETLs and data models. Provides a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic requirements, outlines high-level integrated designs to meet those requirements, and aligns with enterprise strategy and related business architecture Plan for production data pipelines and analytics solutions with tools like ETL for data products and research initiatives. Collaborate with business, product, and technology teams early in product lifecycle to influence end-to-end architecture, including functional and non-functional aspects. Create strategies for data transformations and analysis for clinical, image, device, wearable, and demographic data. Align with industry best practices to create new capabilities for data architecture/design. Participate with cross-disciplinary project teams of database engineers, data scientists and business subject-matter experts to implement solutions. What You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Computer Engineering, or related fields Minimum 6 years relevant work experience Minimum of 4 years of experience working with cloud-based solutions in Azure, AWS, GCP, or similar Proficiency in tools / languages such Python, Databricks, SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL), Data Factory Experience with Data Lakehouse strongly preferred Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data movement and data quality with Big Data, relational and dimensional modeling, and unstructured data stores In-depth knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL), data modeling, modern ETL processes (batch, lambda, delta) and distributed computing frameworks Experience in software development environments using Agile / SCRUM, and code management/versioning (e.g. git) This job may be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States, except that this job may not be filled or performed in Colorado.
