Position Summary

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5 . Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.

As a Staff Accountant, you will have ownership of the balance sheet and contribute to the monthly financial reporting package. You will be considered the subject matter expert on Stratolaunch’s capitalization policy and procedures and help build out our customer billing process.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with month-end closing process: preparing, analyzing, and booking recurring and non-recurring journal entries
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts; identify and resolve discrepant items
• Review, balance, and post financial data from multiple systems into the general ledger
• Analyze expenditures, capitalize, and track fixed assets over their useful lives
• Oversee cost pools and ensure compliance of allowable and unallowable expenses
• Billing creation and submission for assigned programs
• Oversee the Finance Team’s organization and management of data retention
• Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments as needed
• Performs varied work assignments with limited supervision
• Brings inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management, along with proposals for resolution
• Serve as backup support to other team members

QUALIFICATIONS

• College level degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or a directly related field, or the education and work experience equivalent
• 5 years' full-cycle accounting experience, which includes reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
• Understanding of government accounting, i.e. FAR, DFARS, CAS
• Strong organizational, analytical and detail skills, with attention to accuracy and deadlines
• DOD contractor experience, cost accounting experience would be highly beneficial
• Ability to work in a collaborative work environment

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
