Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Hampton Bays, NY
Job Description
- Support the Finance Department staff with completion of monthly financial statements, account reconciliations and yearly completion of the institution’s Medicare Cost Report.
- Support the month end closing process by preparing and posting journal entries as required.
- Assist with confirming the accuracy of SBSH’s internal financial statements by performing monthly/yearly analysis and reconciliations as needed.
- Assist with providing data required for the successful completion of the institution’s Medicare and NYSDOH Institutional Cost Reports.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the Hospital’s Plant Ledger.
- Assist with providing requested data in conjunction with annual audits or other reporting requirements including several governmental surveys.
- Accurately maintain and reconcile the Hospital’s capital lease ledgers.
- Maintain and distribute census, cash collections, FTE and Overtime reports on a daily/bi-weekly basis.
- Maintain and submit abandoned property ledgers for accounts payable and payroll, yearly.
- - Support additional Finance duties or projects as necessary.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and be teamwork oriented.
- Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and computer literacy. Comfort with learning new technologies.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
